A Bit About Black Tea
Lee Dobbins

Defined Tag:

Black tea has long been a popular type of tea much loved for its strong flavor.  But did you ever wonder how it is different from green tea?  While many people think they come from different plants, this is actually not the case all teas come from the same plant but it is the difference in harvesting and processing that makes it one tea, black tea or green tea.

When creating black tea, the leaves are first spread apart and in a process called withering a left into their pliable when they are ruled by hand or on a machine.  Then the leaves are exposed to the air and at this point they change from green to dark brown.  Finally they are put in to large ovens and dried out.

Since black tea is very strong, probably only want to use about 1 teaspoon for every 8 ounces of water and a cup of tea. Bring water just to the boiling point and then forward over the tea leaves and let steep for five minutes.  The time you let steep is actually key to the taste of the tea is over steeping will cause a bitter tasting tea.

Black tea has a lot of health benefits to and, incidentally, a cup of this tea has about as much caffeine as your morning cup of coffee so you might want to think about switching for added health benefits but still being able to get your morning boost.
